City of Newcastle RSL Pipe Band - Formed in 1924 making it the oldest pipe band in the region. This band's aim is to encourage participation and further education in piping and drumming and to help preserve Scottish sentiment and culture.

The Conservatorium of Music - The conservatorium is a faculty of the University of Newcastle and is located in the city center. Features include a 500 seat auditorium and many music studios and practice rooms.

Majestic Mobile Music - Offers mobile music for weddings, pre school and primary schools, parties, presentation nights and corporate functions.

The Marching Koalas - Formed in 1982 as a marching band with representation from several local high schools. Consists of musicians, flags, banners and baton twirlers.
