Actions for Sustainability - A conference held in Civic Park in early June 1997 with the aim of discussing the outcomes of the Rio Earth Summit.

Alan Genders and Associates - Alan Genders worked with NSW Fisheries Research Institute on Kooragang Island while they were investigating the impacts of culvert replacement. This site has information about many of the studies undertaken at the Kooragang site.

The Awabakal Field Studies Centre - Located on the 45 hectares of rehabilitated wetland on the edge of Hexam Swamp. The centre has live and static displays, walking trails, canoes, birdwatching and a theatrette.

Newcastle Beach - Small action group protesting about the proposed development of a site near Newcastle Beach. The website outlines the environmental issues associated with the project and provides details of a protest against the development that occurred on 15th May 2001.

The Wetlands Center - Situated on 45ha of rehabilitated wetland on the edge of Hexham Swamp, this area provides a haven for many species of birds. The center has many facilities including BBQ facilities and canoes for hire.
